Devil Worship? You’re kidding right?

No, I don’t worship the devil. I don’t even believe in the existence of a personification of pure evil. I don’t even believe in pure evil if you must know. There may very well be negative or entropic influences in the universe but they are not under the control of one sentient being. The devil as people would have you believe is such a ridiculously complicated mish-mash of old gods and ancient superstitions that I doubt many people actually know what or who it ever was. Lucifer was a Roman god of the dawn, Shaitan is an ancient Hebrew and Muslim devil, Beelzebub is another ancient devil from yet another culture. The current view of the Christian devil got his horns and hooves from an old pagan deity of fertility and virility named Pan. As in Peter Pan, Panpipes and oh yeah, Pan was depicted as a fawn with horns and hooves, just like the self martyring character in the “Christian” fantasy series about Narnia. Color me confused, no wonder nobody can ever answer my straightforward questions. Depending on where you get your information from, the devil has even been a fallen angel named Azazeal or the maybe the ancient Greek god of the afterlife, Hades. Wait, that’s right, Hades is another word for Hell according to some. And did I mention that Hel was a Norse goddess? Trust me folks, there’s really no such thing as the devil like the church tells you. You want to see the face of real evil? Go visit an asylum, talk to a few sociopaths. There is no true evil, no devil, no hell. However there are such things as entropy, negative energy, and malevolent intentions. To truly understand the nature of what has come to be known as evil you should study Psychology, Physics, Quantum Mechanics, and Entropic Systems. Simply put, all things break down and are destroyed by time and the flow of negative energies. This breakdown is unavoidable and occurs in everything from shoes to mountains and even thoughts and ideas. All orderly systems tend towards entropy, and then once the system is destroyed, the elements come back together into an orderly system. Then the cycle starts again. Such is the way of things. Some control over these influences is possible, but absolute control is unattainable with our current understanding. So the next time someone asks you if you “believe” in the devil or worship the devil, feel free to roll your eyes and look confused, I do.

I wouldnt brand all Christianity as saying the devil has horns. I believe there was a time he was painted as such, and that must have come from older mythology or whatnot. I dont picture him that way at all. Also, the Bible defiantly says a figure known as “Satan” exists and actively does bad things and accuses the brethern, which I believe is a literal translation of Satan. Job has a great interaction between God and Satan. I have no idea what he looks like, and really it wouldnt matter anyway. All thru out the Bible (which you can believe or not) you find stories about this figure, and even Jesus meeting him and being tempted. Evil does exist and has little to do with the above mentioned Laws of thermodynamics( i believe they are called). Then again, if you dont believe in a supreme force for good, then I can see how you dont believe in a devil. And yes, people are in asylums, yet in the Bible, you will find that many of them were possessed by evil spirits. In today’s “modern” society this has totally been thrown out, to be just chemical imbalances or what not. We would be wise to look back and consider at times what the ancient world knew. I would also say my path on Christianity is also based on logic and reason. I didnt just fall into it, but after years of study and contemplation, I knew it was true. I also dont follow a church, I follow the Bible and what Jesus said…too many equate Christianity with a single church. Sadly, many of them are so far from what the Bible teaches, I can understand how it confuses people. Many say faith cant be logical, and then I ask is love logial? We love, and we have faith…my faith grows everyday as does my love for others.
God Bless
