The Draconic Path and Faith 101 – the Code

Like any other religion or philosophy, the Draconic Path has a set of rules, a code of conduct we strive to follow. Unlike other paths however, we acknowledge that our code is a list of guidelines. We know that there is no real punishment for failing to follow our code. We strive to follow it because we want to better ourselves. To fail the code is to fail one’s self. We also know that over time the code must change and adapt, as we must change and adapt. Here is the Draconic code, as I have interpreted it.
It behooves all who are Draconic to act in ways that give respect to the old ways, to others, and to themselves. Therefore, be it noted that:
Ours is a high code of honor which is of most ancient origin, and must be lived by all who follow the ways of the Dragon.
It must be always remembered that thoughts and intent which are put forth will bring into creation that which had been sent. Thus one should exercise discipline, for “You reap what you sow”.
It is only by preparing ourselves to be as the Dragons that we can ultimately attain Transcendence.
Above all you should be true to yourself, for how can we expect from others that which we do not hold ourselves to?
A Dragon’s word must have the validity of a signed and witnessed oath.
Thus, give your word sparingly, but adhere to it like iron.
Be honest with others, and have them know that honesty is likewise expected of them.
Refrain from speaking ill of others, for not all truths of a matter may be known.
Do not pass on unverified words about others, for rumour is, in large part, a thing of falsehoods.
The fury of the moment can play folly with the truth; keeping your head is vital.
Contemplate always the consequences of your actions upon others. Strive not to harm.
Diverse groups may well have varying views on relations between members and with others. When a coven, grove, temple, church or other gathering is visited or joined, one should discern quietly their practices, and abide thereby.
Dignity, a gracious manner, and good humor are much to be admired.
As a Dragon, thou hast power, and thy powers wax strongly as wisdom increases. Therefore exercise discretion in the use thereof.
Courage and honor endure forever. Their echoes remain when the mountains have crumbled to dust.
Pledge friendship and fealty to those who so warrant it. Strengthen others and they shall likewise strengthen you.
Thou shalt not reveal the secrets of another being or another House. Others have labored long and hard for them, and cherish them as treasures.
Though there may be differences between those of the Way, those who are once-born must see nothing, and must hear nothing.
Those who follow the mysteries are above reproach in the eyes of the world.
The laws of the land should be obeyed whenever possible and within reason, for in the main they have been chosen with wisdom.
Have pride in thyself, and seek perfection in body and in mind. For it has been said,
“How canst thou honor another unless thou give honor to thyself first?”
