Why is it that companies keep scr3wing with all the convenience foods? We tend to buy a few boxes of that “ground beef assistance” product each month, and we have noticed that they keep changing it. The first thing we noticed was a flavor that we enjoyed went from having 2 packets of seperate sauce and topping and tasting good, to having all the ingredients in one packet and tasting passable. Then we noticed that the boxes were getting smaller. There’s most definately less food in the packages (the weight is less than before) but they still say it’s 5 servings. Of course, it never made more than 3 servings when the boxes were larger, but they’re still trying to say it makes 5. Now we’ve noticed other flavors going to a 1-packet style, and having less product in the box. It ticks us off. The price didn’t go down, the package never said “New Smaller Size”, so why the h3ll did they do it?
What’s even more annoying than that is the fact that I am having a really hard time finding TV dinners these days. I like to have nukeables around for lunch or the nights when I’m too tired to cook, but I can’t eat a lot of what’s on the market anymore. Why, you ask? Because more and more brands have decided that they need to put fu(k!ng mushrooms in their meals. I really don’t get why. I pretty much can’t buy meatloaf meals, salisbury steak, turkey pot pie or turkey & stuffing meals. Lots of others are showing up with mushroom in them too. I happen to be severely allergic to mushrooms. Do you have any idea how much of a pain in the a$$ it is to have to stand in the freezer lane at the grocery store and read the minutely printed ingredients on every product before I can put it in my cart? I can’t even trust things that I’ve bought in the past. There was one chicken noodle meal that I bought, and then one day I got it, without reading the ingredients because I had bought it so many times before, and guess what, Eric thought he was going to have to rush me to the hospital because I was having a reaction. Sure enough, they had changed the ingredients. I definately think that the labels should have mushroom in large print like they do with soy, wheat and nut warnings.
With the way things are going, I think I’m just going to invest in a big set of tupperware, and start making big meals and freezing individual servings as TV dinners. At least I’d get the portion size I want, and I’d know what the h3ll is in the food.
