I have no intention of ever becoming vegan unless by some freak event of nature my body starts telling me I need to. Even if I wanted to, I think I’d have a really rough time of it.

How could you have any kind of enjoyment if you not only had to give up all meat and animal products, but you had to somehow manage it without eating wheat or mushrooms either? You see, I’m allergic to mushrooms and I can’t eat a lot of wheat, especially whole wheat. Those are pretty big vegan staples.

I know I tried going for veggie burgers at one time, but I couldn’t find a single brand that didn’t have mushrooms. I know they’re used as a meat substitute. Lots of vegetarian and vegan foods rely on mushroom. As for wheat, it’s bad mojo for me, so all the whole wheat foods are out. What would a girl like me do?

Like I said, I don’t intend to ever go vegan, but that doesn’t stop me from being legitimately curious. Plus, I’m always up for trying new foods and finding ways around my few food issues. Lucky for me, staying away from Fruit Loops has never been hard. [grins]
