One of my writing friends recently reposted an article talking about what to do with all the unused ideas that we writers end up having. it got me to thinking about my own list, hence the title. I’ve gotten a lot more organized over the years when it comes to my writing, but I still end up with more ideas than finished articles.

Often, I get a flood of ideas and I just have to note them down so that I don’t forget. I try to get to them as quickly as possible, but sometimes enough time passes that I actually forget what I was going to say about the topic, or I decide that I really don’t want to write about it. More frequently though, I just have a lot of good ideas and not enough time to get them all written.

She mentioned that you can give away your ideas as inspiration for other people. I had never really considered that before. Honestly, I’m not sure where I could put them. I wouldn’t mind helping to inspire other people, I just don’t know what would be the best place to put them so that people could find them.

Of course, another problem would be figuring out what ones I’m never going to get to. I don’t know if other writers get this way, but I always have this feeling that I’ll eventually get to all of them, so I never want to take anything off the list. They’re such good ideas! I want to get them all written. The simple fact is though, that there are just so many hours in a day and I may not ever be able to write every one of them.

I’m going to have to consider giving some of them away or at least cleaning some of them out. I really do want to write more though. I swear I just keep making more work for myself though, because for every article I write I seem to come up with three or four more ideas for things I want to write. Maybe I just need to dedicate some more focus to filling in what’s on my list and only add new things if they’re really great. of course, I think many writers believe that every idea they have is a great one, even if they’re not.
