Herbs for the female libido

Herbs for the female libido
Fenugreek is an herb that is extremely effective in aiding the overall function of the female body. Since it helps balance the estrogen levels in the body, it will naturally aid the libido function, by reducing drops in estrogen. Fenugreek is not highly palatable in tea form, but is quite acceptable in the form of a capsule. There is an interesting benefit that the scent of Fenugreek is arousing to many men, and this may aid the woman in achieving her own arousal.

Anise is another herb that is known to help with female issues. It calms the body and aids circulation. Widely used for menstrual cramps, it also helps calm the body, making arousal more possible. Anise seed can be added to food, eaten alone, or added to libido supplement teas.

Dong Quai, widely used in China, Korea and Japan, and known as “the women’s herb”, is another natural option. This herb relaxes the blood vessels, allowing blood to move more freely through the body, including the sexual organs. The increased circulation will enable arousal. It also has the benefit of causing an increases feeling of virility. Dong Quai is most commonly ingested in capsules or as an ingredient in tea.

Other herbs that can also aid the female libido include Gentain, Black Cohosh and Ginko. Ginko, known for its energizing qualities, can help provide the energy and stamina needed for sexual arousal. Gentain not only has been known to improve memory, but it also improves overall organ function, and has been known to increase sex drive in both men and women. Black Cohosh, like Fenugreek contains plant estrogen. This aids a woman’s body in having normal hormone function, thereby reducing the annoyance of low sex drive. These herbs are frequently found in capsule form, but may also be included in teas. However, Gentain in particular has a very bitter taste.

Any of these herbs, alone or in combination, can be used to stimulate the female libido by improving blood flow, hormone production, energy levels and overall health. The amount that is needed to achieve the desired effect will vary from one woman to another. It is helpful to know the cause of your libido issues. In most cases, it is age and the lowering of estrogen levels in the body. Herbs can be wonderfully beneficial in these cases.

Please consult a physician before using any herbal supplements. While side effects are rare, they can happen, and it’s important, particularly if you are using prescription medications. Also, do your own research. Look up the herbs, and find reputable resources about how they work and what they do. Once you are properly informed, you can take advantage of these natural methods. I use Fenugreek, Cohosh and Gentain myself, and have found them to be greatly helpful in aiding my health, and libido as well.
